5. (a)With examples define the term scale as used on the map.

b) A visitor from Europe came to Tanzania by using a map and visited different areas in Tanzania. From this concept analyze three ways of expressing Map Scale.

  1. In a Map work, areas measured or calculated can be regular or irregular shapes. From this concept outline three ways of calculating areas of Irregular shape.

  2. Given that Map distance is 15cm and the scale of the Map is 1:50,000. Calculate the actual ground distance in km.

  3. Given that full squares = 3 and half squares = 5 and the scale of the Map = 1:50,000. Calculate Area in km²




6. study the climate table for station X below and then answer the questions that follows:

i. Calculate the annual range temperature for station X

ii. Calculate the mean annual temperature for station X

iii. What is the annual total rainfall

iv. Suggest some crops which can grow well under such climatic regions.

v. With two vivid reasons suggest the types of climate for station X
