INSTRUCTIONS
This paper consists of section A, B, and C with a total of fifteen (15) questions.
Answer all questions in section A and B and two (2) questions from section C of which question number 13 is compulsory.
Section A carries fifteen (15) marks, section B carries sixty (60) marks and section C carries twenty five (25) marks.
All writing should be in blue or black pen, except for diagrams that must be drawn in pencil.
Cellular phones and any other unauthorized materials are not allowed in the examination room.

SECTION A(15 Marks)
Answer all questions in this section.
1. For each item (i)-(x), choose the correct answer from among the given alternatives and write its letter beside the item number in your answer sheet.

SECTION B (60 Marks)
3. (a). State the meaning of hygiene and good manner.
(b). Hygiene is considered as one of the most important factors in maintaining good health. Name four principles of personal hygiene.
4. Maua picked a plant which had the following characteristics: fibrous root system, on a woody stem, and a vascular bundle without cambium.
Name the division and class to which the plant belongs.
State four (4) characteristics of the division to which the plant belongs.
5. Consider that you are a medical doctor and you have received a patient whose investigation has diagnosed Tuberculosis(TB). Suggest to the patient the cause, three (3) symptoms and two (2) control measures for the disease.
6. Malinda complains of having a painful burning sensation around the middle of her chest wherever she eats certain kinds of food. She also has a problem of passing out a very hard stool.
What are the possible digestive disorders she might be facing?
What advice should be given to her to alleviate the problem?
7. (a). Distinguish between Tendon and Ligament.
(b). Mr. Leonard needs to have a walk race, cannot use his skeleton only, muscles are needed to walk. Give any three (3) different types of muscles and where they are found in the body of Mr.Leonard.
8. Form three students were told to clean the bush which was near the school compound, suddenly one of the student known as Siyawezi got bitten by a snake, in a move to help her, another student known as Mtuutu fell down and his left leg dislocated, another student known as Moyomzuri was shocked and faint instantly. As a biologist,explain in order of preference who was supposed to be attended first, second and last, and give reasons why.
9. Morogoro Municipal council is facing a problem of overproduction of waste. Briefly Outline the solution to overcome the problem. (Any four (4) points).
10. “Animals cannot survive without moving from one place to another”. Justify this statement by giving three (3) points.
11. Briefly explain the ways through which communicable diseases are transmitted from one person to another. Give four (4) points.
12. Giving four (4) points explain how the natural environment supports the living things.
SECTION C (25 Marks)

13. “Fungi promotes” yet creates disturbances in human life”. Explain five (5) ways on how fungi promote human life and two (2) ways on how fungi create disturbances in human life.
14. How is biological knowledge useful in real life situations? Basing on agricultural activities of economic development at individual, family and nation at large. Give four (4) points.
15. Accidents seem to become a very big problem to human life, leading to the loss of lives of many people including young and old generations. By using the knowledge you have acquired from biology, educate the community on how home and school accidents can be prevented. (Give six points)
